Measuring up is easier than you think.
This is the part most people worry about, and it is the part we are going to make simple. Follow these steps with a tape measure and ten minutes, and you will have everything we need.
What you need, and a tip that makes it easy.
You will need a steel tape measure, a pencil and paper, and ideally a second person to hold the other end. Take your time, write everything down as you go, and measure in millimetres if you can. If anything is unclear once you have read this, ring us before you order.
Five steps to an accurate measurement
Decide where the blind sits
We recommend blinds sit on the front face of your structure, either on the posts or the top rail. They can fit between the posts, but we need to know about this when you order. Settle it before you measure anything.
Measure the width
Measure the width from the centre of one post to the centre of the next post. If you do not have posts, simply measure from where you want the very edge of the outer left bracket to sit, across to where you want the outer edge of the right bracket to sit. The clear PVC will sit 20mm in from both edges of the blind.
Measure the height, or drop
Measure from where you want the very top of the blind, including the top metal roller, to sit, down to where you want the very bottom of the blind to come down to. If the ground slopes, let us know. We can offer a flap that helps fill that gap.
Note anything in the way
Beams, brackets, light fittings, downpipes, sloped tops. Sketch the opening and mark anything that sits in or near it. A photo or two on your phone helps us more than you would think.
Write it down clearly and send it over
Always give width first, then drop. Double-check every figure against your sketch. Then design your blind online or send the measurements with your quote request, and we will confirm everything before anything is cut.

Millimetres are best, as they leave no room for confusion. If you are more comfortable in inches, that is fine, just tell us clearly which you have used.
